$10.00
This is a PDF sewing pattern and tutorial to teach you how to create these garments. THIS IS NOT A FINISHED PRODUCT.
This intermediate knit pattern is a traditional, tight fitting one piece swimsuit with tons of options! It is fully lined and comes with directions to add bust support (sew in swim cups, power mesh and under bust elastic). All seams are enclosed and edges finished with elastic for a secure, traditional swimsuit fit and feel.
This suit is the perfect suit to get you through years of summers! With all the options you can create sexy vacation wear as well as a comfortable and modest suit for the swim park with kiddos! The waistband hits at and slightly above the natural waistline so give a super slimming silhouette, while the gathered v at the shows off just enough to be flattering while feeling secure. The legs come up higher for a longer leaner look, but still keep cover enough to keep you from tugging away through swimming and offer full booty/cheek coverage. The retro vibe will be a classic for years to come and can be paired with so many different fabric pattern options for different looks!
Options include: halter strap, low back with cross straps, full back straps, regular bottoms, ruched bottoms, and skirted bottom (with peplum and skirt length).

This swimsuit is so flattering. I made the full back variation with ruched bottoms (ruching it in thirds, rather than in the middle). However, I did make a few tweaks to make it suit me better. I cut a size M (for reference, my bust is 37.5″, waist 32″, hips 38.5″”, height 5′,6″), but used size L for the waistband piece and size L for all of the elastics. I did a full tummy adjustment on the bottom front lining. I also did a FBA on the bodice front, and eased the resulting extra length into the side seam of the back piece. I noticed that on the tester photos, the beautiful gathered effect on the crossover bodice gets a bit lost, particularly in the more full busted models, as the fabric is pulled taut across the bust; my FBA allowed a little more fabric in the front to do its thing with the gathers — I love the result! The ruched bottom balances out the gathered crossover top. I think this pattern is suitable for intermediate sewers or advanced beginners looking for a little more challenge. I consider myself an intermediate sewer for active wear as I have already sewn several active wear pieces by other pattern companies, but even though I read the instructions here carefully, I still found myself scratching my head a few times. I think it’s due to the fact that there are so many options packed into this one pattern, and the pattern instructions and photos hop between the different options in a way that may lead to some confusion. However, I did appreciate the pattern’s detailed instructions for installing power mesh – that stuff is magic and helps with sculpting and shaping this swimsuit; it also virtually eliminates the risk of wardrobe malfunctions. If you have some prior experience with activewear, and don’t mind some careful study of the instructions, I would recommend this pattern.

I love this pattern. It is so versatile. I attached the lining bottom to the top then stitched the crotch using the burrito method so that the inside of the suit was finished. I also used swim suit hooks on the halter straps.

I purchased this pattern when it was released a few years ago. Since then I have made one each summer. I am in the bigger sizes and I think is a great pattern and fits me very well. It is an elevated swimsuit from the plain ones.
