Have a special event coming up? The Red Carpet Dress can help you feel glamourous and beautiful for it! The fitted silhouette is classic and sexy too. You can opt for the thin straps showing off all the shoulders… and don’t worry all options include a shelf bra you can use a nice supportive fabric for and even add cups into for a glorious bra-less option. Don’t want to go bra-less? No big deal, you can still use the shelf bra for adding support to your strapless. Or go with the sleeve options– both have gathering along the shoulders for a puffy sleeve. Short sleeve is gathered again with a small ruffle for an adorable detail giving this option a sweet against the sexy fit of the dress. The long sleeves are gathered into a longer cuff, making a dramatic bishop sleeve that balances out the tight fit body of the dress. The square neckline is a gorgeous, open neckline showing off those collarbones. The body of the dress is a tight fit through bust, waist and hip, slimmed through thigh and knee. On the floor length is has a slight mermaid flare out from the thigh to the floor, while mini, knee and midi lengths stay slimmed. You can go with a plain skirt or add a fun and flirty slit to any of the lengths. Just get ready to strike a pose if you choose slit, because I can never help myself when I do! All options are fully lined, giving an absolutely beautiful finish on the outside and inside of the dress. It also creates a blind hem, which is so nice for specialty fabrics that don’t look amazing with visible stitches along hemlines.
Choose from options: thin straps with plain front, plain back, cowl front, cowl back, short sleeves or long sleeves (plain necklines only), mini, knee, midi, floor, floor with small train, plain or slit skirt and optional shelf bra.
Worried about sewing up the Red Carpet Dress? Don’t be! We have helpful videos and blogs linked throughout the tutorial.
The Red Carpet Dress is drafted for a high stretch knit fabric. Some of our favorites are: ITY, stretch velvets, double brushed poly, burnout velvet, sweater knit, cotton spandex, athlethic knit, slinky poly spandex, ribbed knits, etc. *Note- for the cowl options it is especially important to have a fabric with a soft drape (stretch velvets, slinky knits, double brushed poly, ITY, single brushed poly).
Bodice Lining: light weight knit with high stretch such as ITY, DTY, supplex, swimwear lining, and the like. You can self line if fabric isn’t too thick. It is also helpful if the lining has a smooth-face (feels smooth and even slinky).
Shelf Bra: needs four way stretch- recommendations are powermesh, swim fabric/swim lining, single brushed poly, athletic knit, etc.
