Patterns for Pirates has added a brand new feature to their newest upcoming patterns! The Layers Feature! This means you can choose to print one size, a couple, or all of them if you’d like. They will still be the “No Trim” style.
Here is a few screenshots to help you use the new feature.
As always, you will need to open and print your PDF from Adobe PDF Reader (a free download if you don’t have it yet).
This is what your screen should look like viewing the PDF pattern pieces:
Now you can print just the sizes you need and save some ink and time tracing off your size! 🙂

Hi,
I’m just trying to print a pattern . But it’s asking for a password to print?? I’m not finding a password anywhere in the orders

Hi- it only asks for a password into editing software. You wont need a password for viewing or printing. You can either open it as a “read only” file in the program you’re trying to use. Or use the free Adobe PDF Reader and it will work perfectly for you without a password with that program.

I made the Cocoon Cardigan a few years ago and love it. I was advised as a first time garment maker to use French Terry. I really like it but would like to use a different material this time but I don’t know names/kinds of material. Can you suggest something soft and drapey? I’m 80 now and always chilly. I don’t want something real warm but just like to have my arms covered most of the time.
Thank you! Pat

My favorite is a brushed sweater knit! They’re soft, stretchy and super cozy!

I cannot get the pattern to print properly. Curved lines on the smallest as well as second to largest sizes are straight lines, I use Adobe reader and follow the instructions. This happened even with my old printer. Computer is ok. I realize, this is why I haven’t purchased a pattern before. it is so frustrating
Katy McKinley says
Hi Laura, are you printing with HP printers by chance? This has happened a good bit with that printer brand because it’s somehow converting the curves to points when sending it to your printer. Odd, but the way around it is to select “print as image”.
Printing a PDF file as an image bypasses that processing by sending the printer a simple image of the document instead. It generally clears up the issue for people.

Hello! I am struggling to find how to use the Layers option on my mac. Does anyone have information on what I need to do to see this option on a mac laptop? Thank you!

Hi- You will still need to download the free Adobe pdf reader to use layers. Here is a blog post about it: http://www.patternsforpirates.com/layers
