Charlie King-Miller (verified owner) –
The youth Gala Gown is my absolute go-to dress pattern for my kids. It’s easy to use, easy to understand, and infinitely hackable. I’ve made several as written in cute fabrics, but I’ve also:
– modified the bodice to have a faux lace-up front and added puff to the sleeves for a Rapunzel dress
– added applique and changed the neckline to make a dinosaur costume
– modified the bodice to an off-the-shoulder silhouette, narrowed the front skirt, and added a train for an Elsa dress
– dropped the waist, combined the bodice and skirt pieces, and added godets to make a Merida dress.
Yes, my kids are obsessed with Disney. But *I* am obsessed with this dress. It’s easy to customize, super comfortable, and always comes out looking great.
